To truly understand how this works, let's rewind time a bit.

I had been in Retail Management. I spent 8 years working 50+ hours per week for a meager salary. I was given awards for salesmanship and praised for my ability to train my staff. We broke sales records and won many competitions.

I was great at what I did.

I had finally been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia in 2003. My entire body throbbed with constant pain. I could barely get out of bed on most days. Every inch of me was always severely hurting. I was on serious narcotics like Morphine, Vicodin, and many others.

I couldn't hold a job. I bounced all over the place trying to figure out how I was going to continue standing for 10 hours per day while my legs were buckling out from under me.

In 2004 The Department of Veterans Affairs (it was the army that made me so sick) offered to retrain me and put me through school to earn a degree and do something that wouldn't be so hard on my body.

In 2005 we were living on $1000 per month. It was me, my wife, and my 3 beautiful children. I couldn't take the suffering anymore. The worrying about having the income to pay our bills. Calling family and begging for financial help, it sucked...

I was ready to make some drastic changes and tired of suffering, irritated with living with no cash, and sick of seeing my wife and kids do without.

One day I turned to my wife and said:

"Honey we can't do this anymore. There has to be some way for us to earn the kind of income we deserve."

I began scouring the internet for a product that I could sell online.

Within about a week, I found something and immediately put up a store on Ebay.

Two weeks later, I couldn't use the bathroom.

I don't want to get into too much detail (the gross factor is pretty high...).

I had to go to the Emergency Room every day to have my bladder drained and on the third day, I couldn't walk.

My wife tried to provoke me and make me angry enough to get up out of bed, but it was impossible.

I began having delusions, talking about the end of the world. I went from making no sense at all to talking like nothing was wrong.

During one of the few moments where I was making sense, I turned to her and said:

"Call an ambulance honey, this is serious."

The ambulance came and I was taken to the Emergency Room. They drained my bladder and tried to send me home for the third time.

My wife turned to the doctor and asked:

"Am I supposed to carry him, he can't freaking walk!"

The doctors agreed to do more tests to figure out what was wrong with me.

Within 12 hours I was comatose.

I was somewhat coherent during the coma. I would open my eyes and incorporate anyone in the room into what was going on in my head.

I had my own version of Fight Club playing out in my brain as I fought for my life in the hospital bed.

I was fighting every enemy I had ever faced throughout my 26 years. Sometimes there were people fighting with me, sometimes I was alone. There were times where someone else was fighting for me.

My brain and spine were swollen to the point where I was hallucinating very heavily. I kept trying to pull out the dozen cords feeding me and keeping me alive.

I got Pneumonia and began having trouble breathing. They put me on a machine that did my breathing for me.

My wife and mother stayed by my side every day. My father flew in from Florida. My brother came home from college to say goodbye to me.

They weren't sure if I was going to live through it. My family watched as I edged closer and closer to death.

On the 9th day, I opened my eyes and saw my 6 month old son in his stroller. I locked eyes with him for nearly 60 seconds and thought about how valuable my life was and about my family. I had a lot to live for.

The next morning, they were about to put a hole in my throat so I could breathe and I woke up.

I was still hallucinating and thought that I was fine. I kept trying to get out of my bed and fell on the floor every time.

I didn't realize that my legs didn't work.

Within a few days I was in a wheelchair. I began going through extensive rehabilitation. I was able to regain slight movement in my legs in a few days.

I worked my behind off to get better and was using a walker 3 weeks later.

Roughly 30 days after I went into the hospital, I went home in a wheelchair to find something amazing.
